The Baccarat Hotel & Residences by SOM is now rising quickly, and there was major activity on-site this week. The project has moved past the irregular base floors, which means its rapid ascent can now begin—floor plates for the bulk of the tower are identical. Though 20 West 53rd will rise 46 floors and 610 feet, it will still be dwarfed by the 1,050 foot Torre Verre, which will soon be under construction across 53rd street.
