Demolition Update: 160 Madison Avenue

160 Madison Avenue160 Madison Avenue, May 22nd 2013; Demolition complete

Demolition is now complete at the corner of 33rd and Madison, which has been unofficially dubbed 160 Madison Avenue. The site was originally slated to host an Ismael Leyva-designed tower, but JD Carlisle bought the site back in 2012, and the plans have changed significantly. No renderings of the new design for the site have been released, but—per DNA Info—JD Carlisle intends on building a residential tower.

The above photos show 160 Madison yesterday, completely demolished, and from two weeks ago, when work was still underway.

Permits filed with the Department of Buildings indicate 160 Madison will eventually host a 371-foot tall building with 31 stories and 225 units, though the initial application was disapproved on May 15th. With the old buildings now demolished, at least there’s nothing physical standing in the way of the project. If the current white-hot residential market is any indicator, actual construction is imminent.
