Construction is making rapid progress at 218 West 35th Street, which will hold a new hotel. Permits have been conflicting, but the latest filings show the building will rise 40 floors and 432 feet – though no details on a hotel operator have been revealed. The development will have 342 rooms.

The structure is now at its 10th floor. The first eight stories are double-height, and will add to the presence of whatever tower is eventually built on-site; beyond the permits filed with the DOB, no additional information for the development has been released.

What is known is the project’s architect, which is SRA Architecture. The final product will likely be a semi-tolerable glass box, warranted by the location – 35th Street and 7th Avenue – which is part of the area seeing a major influx of budget to mid-range hotels.
