Construction Update: The Baccarat Tower

The Baccarat TowerThe Baccarat Tower

The Baccarat Tower is closing in on its pinnacle, and now stands 42 stories tall – the tower has grown twelve floors since the last update, from late June, and construction has been proceeding at breakneck speeds. With the continued ascent of the concrete superstructure, progress on the glass facade should also come as no surprise, and cladding is now climbing above the tower’s base floors.

As the building begins to morph into a final product, the coherence of the design is becoming more obvious; though the off-center base looked odd in renderings, it seems to work much better in real life, as the tower seems to tilt towards the denser side of its block. The glass cladding is also superb, though the skyscraper’s most subtle quality is its slenderness – for a 600-foot building, The Baccarat Tower is quite thin, also made obvious via the swift pace of construction.

The Baccarat Tower is expected to open in 2014, though units – all 70 of them – are already on-sale. The hotel, to be operated by Starwood, will sit in the tower’s base, while residences will rest above.
