Construction Update: The Sterling Mason

The Sterling MasonThe Sterling Mason

Excavation is in full swing at The Sterling Mason, located at 71 Laight Street, which will mix the facade of a preserved warehouse with new construction. The building’s architect is Morris Adjmi, which delivered on a historically contextual design, mandated by the building’s Tribeca locale. Renderings, via the development’s website, depict a seamless transition between the old and new facades, as Adjmi simply reflected the design of the original lofty warehouse at 401 Washington Street across former lot lines, creating a cohesive addition to the neighborhood.

Given the development’s location in the heart of Tribeca, the fact that The Sterling Mason only has 33 units is not surprising – and the building’s 96,000 square feet mean average residences top 3,000 square feet. The project also has three penthouse units – Douglas Elliman, which is managing sales, has additional information for 71 Laight Street on their website. Currently available residences range from a $6 million 3-bedroom to one of the penthouses, which is currently on-sale for $20 million.
