111 West 57th Street’s excavation progress was recently featured on YIMBY, and since then, a new exterior rendering surfaced on Curbed, along with the new teaser site. Thanks to a tipster, YIMBY can now reveal a slew of interior and exterior renderings for the SHoP-designed supertall tower, which is being developed by JDS and Property Markets Group.

The building may temporarily hold the title of New York’s tallest residential tower, depending on whether it tops-out before 217 West 57th Street, which will rise just one block to the west. 111 West 57th Street will stand 80 stories tall, with 60 residences starting at $14 million apiece.

The first interiors depict sweeping column-free views over Central Park, thanks to the building’s unique and innovative design, which will also make it the skinniest skyscraper on the planet. Its slender 60-foot-wide figure will be supported by extremely thick perimeter walls, which will be wrapped in terra cotta and bronze, and at nighttime, lighting will make the tower a stand-out on the overall Midtown skyline.

The latest height figure of 1,428 feet is another slight uptick from the previously reported 1,421 feet (which would still be sufficient to put the building above the 1,397-foot 432 Park Avenue). Regardless of the final number, the building’s elaborate, prominent, and strikingly thin design is likely to make it an instant architectural icon.
