The 52-story office tower at 10 Hudson Yards topped out back in November, but work has yet to start on the planned tower at 50 Hudson Yards. However, there is movement that will help make the site ready for construction.

In October, Related Companies acquired the site of the McDonald’s at 427 Tenth Avenue (at the corner of West 34th Street), Crain’s reported. That’s where they want to put 50 Hudson Yards.

Since then the McDonald’s, which actually had a drive-thru, closed. Not only that, photos sent to YIMBY show its demolition in progress.

The new building is still in the planning stages. Almost nothing is even said about it in the Hudson Yards press kit. No official design has been unveiled, though renderings showed up online in the spring of 2014 and a model of Hudson Yards exhibited at the conference of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) showed a possible look.

What has been stated publicly is that it will be an office tower standing 1,068-feet-tall for 62 stories. There will be 2.3 million gross square feet. As said, there is still very little information out there about 50 Hudson Yards. So, we can’t yet say when construction will commence. Stay tuned.
