Permits Filed for Site of East Village Explosion at 119 Second Avenue

Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 119 Second Avenue, in the East Village. The development will rise on the site of a tragic explosion from 2015, which claimed two fatalities. After the event, three buildings were demolished and cleared. The new project will fill one of the three addresses. Nexus Development is heading the project, partnering with Immobiliare Capital and Premier Equities. According to the Real Deal, Nexus purchased 119 and 121 Second Avenue in 2017 for $9.15 million. 123 Second Avenue was sold to Ezra Wibowo in 2016.

Morris Adjmi-Designed 363 Lafayette Street Tops Out, East Village, Manhattan

Construction of the ten-story-tall office building at 363 Lafayette Street has topped out, with façade installation and interior work remaining. Today, we have images of the progress by Tectonic, revealing the concrete frame. YIMBY’s last report on the site revealed a redesign pushed by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, removing double-height sectioning from the original plans, and increasing the visibility of the black crossbeams, which simplified the façade.

Permits Filed for 268 East 7th Street, East Village

A non-descript three-story home is about to meet the wrecking ball for a seven-story replacement at 268 East 7th Street, in the East Village. Building applications show the new structure will have 8,043 square feet of residential space divided between two units, the first spanning from the basement through the second floor, and the second taking up each floor above that. Amador Pons of Grzywinski + Pons Architects is designing, and Wilco Faessen is listed as the developer. Demolition permits for the current occupant were approved in late August, so construction should begin relatively soon.
