Condominium Conversion Begins at 118 West 13th Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Work is underway on 118 West 13th Street, a seven-story residential conversion in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village Historic District. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Slate Property Group, which acquired the property for $22.85 million and is partnering with private equity firm Avenue Realty Capital, the project will create eight condominium units spread across 34,000 square feet. The structure was originally built in 1931 and formerly served as the 175-room Eugene Lang College dormitory for The New School, once touted as the most expensive college dorm in the United States. The project is located on an interior lot between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

Foundation Work Resumes at 38 West 8th Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction has resumed at 38 West 8th Street, the site of a seven-story mixed-use building in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Designed by Morris Adjmii Architects and developed by Straus Group under the Clinton Eight Realty, LLC, the structure is planned to yield condominium units, a community facility, and commercial space with 104 feet of frontage. The scope also includes repairs to the adjacent structure at 177 MacDougal Street. Empire State Contractors is the general contractor for the 4,775-square-foot property, which is situated at the corner of West 8th and MacDougal Streets.

Demolition is nearing completion at 519 and 523-527 Sixth Avenue and 100, 102, and 104-106 West 14th Street, the site of a forthcoming development from Modi Feibish on the border of Greenwich Village and Chelsea. Alba Services is the general contractor for the property assemblage, which is located at the southwestern corner of Sixth Avenue and West 14th Street.

Gansevoort Peninsula Park Nears Completion on the West Village Waterfront, Manhattan

Work is nearing completion on Gansevoort Peninsula Park, a new 5.5-acre public recreational green space along the Hudson River waterfront off the West Village. Designed by James Corner Field Operations and commissioned by the Hudson River Park Trust, the park will contain a full-size soccer field surrounded by lush landscaping and shrubbery, numerous pathways, stepped seating, a children’s playground, kayak slips, a salt marsh, a dog run, viewing platforms, and Manhattan’s first public sandy beach. The site is located next to Pier 53, directly across from the Whitney Museum of American Art along Hudson River Park.

Derelict Townhomes Ready for Repair Work at 18-20 Christopher Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Repair work is set to begin on 18-20 Christopher Street, a pair of derelict two-story homes in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Owned by Nazarian Property Group, the structures have been issued an order to vacate from the Department of Buildings and currently stand in a state of significant disrepair. The townhomes at 18-20 Christopher Street were constructed in 1827 and are located between Gay Street to the east and Waverly Place to the west.
