Foundation work has begun for the six-story mixed-use building at 805 Washington Avenue, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, as seen in the latest from Tectonic. Construction crews have cleared away much of the lot, and steel has been installed along the perimeter. The site is just a block away from the Brooklyn Museum in Prospect Park, and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is also nearby.

The development has changed since YIMBY last reported on the site, scaling down from nine stories to six.

The 69 foot-tall structure will yield 54,500 square feet, with 37,300 dedicated to residential use, and 6,300 for commercial use. 25 residential units will be created, with an average area of 1492 square feet, indicating condominiums.

The development will replace a single-story Key Foods store with a larger facility for the grocery store, and DJLU Architects is responsible for the design.

The project is expected to be complete by 2019.

I have to speak out about develop harassment. (Hello YIMBY – Thanks for wake me up from grave)

  2. So glad they are going to keep the Key Food and enlarge it.

  3. On-site parking? Deliveries will block out on-street spots–maybe a dozen. Good luck.
