Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 700 Manida Street, in Hunts Point, The Bronx. Hunts Point is a relatively secluded peninsula within the Bronx, with a population just over 27,000. The closest subway station is the 6 train stop on Bruckner Boulevard, with the furthest end of the peninsula being a 45-minute walk away. MHANY Management is developing the project.

The 80-foot tall structure will yield a total 111,000 square feet, with 80,400 square feet for residential use and 3,900 square feet dedicated to an ambulatory health treatment center on the first floor. The Real Deal reported in August of this year that this project was expected to create 55 units, with 20 percent dedicated for senior housing.

The new permit shows that the living space has nearly doubled, and will yield 108 residences. It is unclear if the percentage dedicated to senior housing was changed as well. The average living area will be 744 square feet per unit. There will be a recreation room with senior amenities on the first floor, and apartments populating floors two through eight.

RKTB Architects will be responsible for the design.

The lot currently has fencing and a children’s playground surrounded by overgrown plants, so demolition permits will be not be needed. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Next move. (Hello comes to you YIMBY)

  2. Wouldn’t the #6 train be a much shorter walk than the 2 or 5..??

  3. andrew has never been to hunts point. nearest station is #6 at hunt point ave and bruckner blvd/ southern blvd

  4. While it’s true that the 6 train is a distance from the southeastern fringes of the Hunts Point peninsula, this development is located about a 10 minute walk from both the Hunts Point and Longwood Ave subway stations.

More interesting, this development is located 8 minutes from the coming Hunts Point Metro North train station.

  5. I’m looking for the Apply housing
