Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 27 Buchanan Place, in The Bronx’s University Heights. The site is a block and a half away from the 183rd Street Subway Station, serviced by the 4 train, and seven blocks away from the 182-183rd Street Subway Station, serviced by the B and D trains.

Badaly Architects will be responsible for the design. The elevation plan shows a smooth rustication on the first floor, brick on the upper floors, and a simple cornice crowning the building.

The 66-foot tall structure will yield 18,240 square feet of space, with 17,140 square feet for residential use and 1,100 square feet dedicated to a medical facility. The project will create 21 apartments, averaging 816 square feet apiece, indicating rentals.

27 Buchanan Place will yield nine residential parking spaces, and space in the cellar to store 11 bicycles. Recreation space will be provided on the second floor, and a laundry will be accessible on the top floor. Floors two through six will have four units each, with just two on the seventh floor. The medical facility will be located on the ground floor.

You can’t eat, but you can read about a seven-story.

  2. I was at the site about a week ago. They have started excavation work. Filling up trucks with dirt and rocks and drilling. The permits have it listed as 29 Buchanan Place.

  3. They have also returned to 29 featherbed lane to do excavation. What a site to see them drill that big rock. They are almost complete with drilling and filling the trucks.
