Permits have been filed for an eight-story school at 156 17th Street, in Greenwood, Brooklyn. The site is nine blocks away from both the 25th Street Station and 9th Street Station, serviced by the D, N, R, and W trains. SDS Brooklyn will be responsible for the development, which suggests this will not be a public school.

The 104-foot tall structure will yield 32,600 square feet for the community facilities. The building will provide conference rooms, a lobby with security, school offices, as well as a cafeteria, third-floor outdoor terrace, an art room, library, reading rooms, guidance rooms, and a gymnasium.

A medical facility will coexist with the school, operating from the first floor and cellar, and notably including an ambulance bay.

The Manhattan-based firm, GF55 Partners, will be responsible for the design.

Demolition permits have not been filed and an expected completion date has not been announced.

  2. This is not a public school, is it?

BTW the nearest subway is at Prospect & Fourth Avenues(R), around the corner. It’s open again and looking good.
