Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 2317 Cambreleng Avenue in Belmont, a neighborhood known as ‘the Little Italy of the Bronx.’ The site is equidistantly a mile away from the 182-183rd Street Subway Station, and the West Farms Square Subway Station, with the first serviced by the B and D trains, and the 2 and 5 trains passing through the latter. Seven blocks away is the Bronx Zoo. Stagg Group NY is responsible for the development.

The 74-foot tall structure will yield 54,775 square feet of space, with 34,390 square feet dedicated to residential use, and 7,670 square feet for community facility use. It’s unspecified how the community facility will be used, but it will occupy portions of the first and second floors.

50 apartments will be created, averaging 688 square feet apiece, indicating rentals. Tenants will have a lobby, storage for 25 bicycles, laundry room, an indoor recreational space on the third floor, outdoor recreational space on the top floor. A total of 17 parking spaces will be made available to residents, with five built inside the building.

WMW Architects will be responsible for the design.

The site is currently undeveloped. The estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. The Stagg group is finally going to start building adjacent to my backyard. The construction fencing goes up on Monday. 1032 Intervale ave.

  2. One more company responsible for the complete downfall of what is left of a landmark community. This isn’t like bringing in hipsters to downtown Brooklyn. You are forcing out those who run the Italian markets on Arthur Avenue allowing for overcrowding on a small, community driven street of the area. What was once the quietest block of the neighborhood will soon be filled with all sorts of lowlife apartment tenants ruining the atmosphere built years ago. Once the current owners leave, how long do you think tenants will support the community? You will end up with another South Bronx here in what was once a great neighborhood.
