Permits have been filed for a new 10-story addition to the Coney Island Hospital complex at 2619 Ocean Parkway, in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. The site is ten blocks away from the Sheepshead Bay subway Station, serviced by the B and Q trains, and nine blocks away from the Neptune Avenue Subway Station, serviced by the F trains. The Coney Island Hospital, connected with the NYC Health and Hospitals Company, will be responsible for the project.

The 206-foot tall structure will yield 903,220 square feet for the community facility, reaching a floor area ratio of 1.98. On-site, 467 parking spaces will be created on the first floor, spread across 127,780 square feet. 331 of those spaces will be operated by a valet service.

According to The Real Deal, the project will harbor an emergency department, pharmacy, and laboratory. The project gained funding from the $1.6 billion FEMA grant to NYC Hospitals following Hurricane Sandy.

NBBJ Architecture will be responsible for the design.

Demolition permits have not yet been filed. The estimated completion date has not been announced, but one might speculate that it will be in 2022.
