Construction is nearly complete for the 62-story mixed-use tower named “ARO” at 242 West 53rd Street, in Midtown, Manhattan. A plethora of transit options are located near the site. The A, B, C, D, E, F, N, Q, R, W, and 1 trains can all be found within seven blocks distance. Algin Management is responsible for the development.

The undulating glass tower façade, wrapped with white steel paneling is nearly finished. The project topped-out August of last year. CetraRuddy is responsible for the design, described by Algin as a “contextual sculpture.”

ARO rises 674 feet to its main roof and yields 542,300 square feet within, including 16,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space. 426 rentals will be created, ranging in size from studios to three bedrooms, alongside a single four-bedroom unit.

The project’s website claims 40,000 square feet of amenities space will be included, including a fitness center, lounge, indoor and outdoor pool, basketball court, and landscaped outdoor sun deck.
The tower replaces the old Roseland Ballroom, which closed in 2014 after operating for 95 years.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: Something can change you to love it.

  2. I reserve to right to change my mind if this building doesn’t age well, but at the present, I think this is a very striking tower. The proportions in particular are very well done.

  3. Looks fantastic! The tall slender lines of elegance on Manhattan!
