Permits filed reveal a bright new addition to 147 Stanhope Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and today YIMBY has the first rendering for the project. The architect is Beam Architects, and the design is by J Goldman Design. The residential building will rise a modest four stories, and comprise eight rental apartments.

Joshua Felix, JGD’s senior designer, told YIMBY “It’s always a pleasure to have a client that is interested in pushing aesthetic boundaries. With an area known for an artistic demographic, the intention was to appeal, impress and create an experience.”

The total build area measures just over 7,300 square feet, with about 4,600 square feet dedicated to residential space.

The development will replace an existing two-story, single family home originally constructed in 1920. The property sold to an undisclosed buyer in 2017 to the tune of $1.2 million.

Filings credit local developer Moshe Friedman as owner, who is also responsible for several other developments in Bushwick and Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

  1. Indigenous Bushwicknite. Luv it!

  2. As someone who lives in Bushwick and is connected to the “artist community”, I can imagine that the artist type demographic they are trying to appeal to wouldn’t want to live here. Not trying to be rude, but this will stick out as an eye sore. It does not fit the aesthetic of the street/neighborhood at all. Poor neighbors. Hopefully this isn’t the final design
