Permits have been filed for a two-story broadcast building at 122-04 Roosevelt Avenue inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park, in Queens. Details are not available for the precise location, but the most likely area is part of a parking lot near the Flushing Meadows train yard along Roosevelt Avenue. The United States Tennis Association is responsible for the development.

The 30-foot-tall structure will yield 21,110 square feet of commercial space. Offices will occupy the entire space. Matthew L. Rossetti Architect is responsible for the design.

This filing comes less than three months after the US Open announced the Louis Armstrong Stadium development has had its final steel beam installed. The area is undergoing a $550 million transformation as part of the 2018 US Open’s 50 year anniversary. Other milestones for the site include the removal of the large cranes on site and completion of concrete pouring for the upper and lower seating bowl. Façade installation has already commenced, and completion of the new stadium is expected in about three months.

Another contender for the project’s location would be an underutilized lot between Grand Central Parkway and Meridian road, though the given address does not correspond with this location.

An estimated completion date for the broadcasting building has not been announced.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: Details designed by Andrew Nelson. (Hello YIMBY)

  2. “Corona Yard” not “Flushing Meadows Yard”
