New building permits have been filed for a seven-story hotel at 35 Port Richmond Avenue in Elm Park, Staten Island. The site is distant from public transport, though it is about one mile from the first exit off the Bayonne Bridge, which connects with New Jersey. Three blocks from the lot is the waterside Faber Park, a small scenic public green space. M.S. Savani Architecture is listed as responsible for the design.

The 77-foot tall structure will yield 27,500 square feet, with 21,060 square feet dedicated to commercial use. 61 guest rooms will be yielded, though no parking spaces will be included on site. Visitors will have access to a café, bicycle storage, and a laundry room.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: Wake you up about development with a seven-story hotel. (Hello YIMBY)

  2. It does look like there’s a bunch of bus stops nearby! (I believe that’s considered public transit…)

These buildings were used in filming in Boardwalk Empire! How cool. Now I have to go rewatch it to see them in the show!

  3. Another homeless hotel in the works.

Anyone else find it amusing that the article said the site is “distant from public transport”, while there’s a city bus parked in front of the building?

  5. And no Parking facility, sounds like a homeless shelter to me…
