New Design Revealed for One Sullivan Place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn

Rendering of One Sullivan Place

The on-again, off-again development at One Sullivan Place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn appears to have again begun construction, and YIMBY has a first look at the new design.

Back in 2015, developer Sterling Town Equities retained Workshop DA to design an 8-story, 16-unit residence. Today, new renderings reveal an expanded, 12-story structure that incorporates two 25-foot cantilevers above adjacent low-rise buildings on both sides of the property.

Designed by RKTB, the building will now comprise approximately 60,000 square feet of residential area and amenity space. While the amenity package has not been revealed, the 48 apartment units will range from one to three-bedrooms. Residents will also have access to below-grade parking area.

According to the general contractor JRM Construction Management, completion is expected by 2019.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: Desirable to see on its design why I said like this. Because it’s beautiful.

  2. No it’s not in Prospect Park. There is no such neighborhood. The parcel in question is in Crown Heights. Crown Heights isn’t often thought of as running that far west but it does. Historically, Crown Heights was part of the town of Flatbush – so that town name would work as well for this area. Or maybe PLG is stretched further north. Any of those 3 names would better identify the location.

  3. I don’t believe any building is going to be IN Prospect Park…

  4. Does this building cantilever over the existing, neighboring buildings, or does it just look that way?

  5. Right; I wouldn’t be surprised if those behind YIMBY would like to see buildings in the park, but fortunately that is unlikely. This building is in Crown Heights. I hate to nitpick with a previous poster, but that area was part of Brooklyn, when Flatbush was a separate town–it’s just north of the former Brooklyn/Flatbush boundary.

  6. Actually Crown Heights (where this site is located) was never part of the Town of Flatbush, which starts slightly above Empire Boulevard (there is a marker in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden that shows the dividing point – Sullivan Place is just north of it). Prospect Lefferts Gardens is in the town of Flatbush. No doubt these developers will attempt to capitalize on the “cachet” of that neighborhood by claiming this is in PLG too, a la 2100 Bedford, 12 Crown, and many others.
