The City Council of East Orange, New Jersey has given Blackstone 360 the green light to construct a new residential development at 260 South Harrison Street. Known as “Allure 260,” the building will top-off at 18 stories and comprise 325,000 square feet, with 201 units situated within.

Now approved, the project represents the company’s largest investment to date in East Orange, and is expected to break ground in January 2019.

Once the building is occupied, the annual payments to the City of East Orange will reach approximately $400,000 per year, or about ten times the annual revenue generated from the property which today is comprised of underutilized parcels and small single-family homes.

“This is a major win for the City and the community,” said Daniel Jennings, Director of Policy, Planning and Development for East Orange. “This property was an abandoned blight. Now, this new luxury high rise will be part of the renaissance of East Orange.”

  1. PLEASE PARDON ME FOR USING YOUR SPACE: Abuse words not found for the development, and. Oh! Beautiful looks.

  2. East Orange need more than some luxury building that no one is going to be able to afford but ppl from New York, way to go East Orange never thinking about the residents who live here,.this is why I’m moving out.

    • So true. I’ve lived on South Harrison St for many years. With all these expensive buildings popping up I know many families that have been force to move . The Average cost of a 2 bedroom on South Harrison St is now $1500. Some even cost more. ..

    • There’s plenty of people from EO (or anywhere else) who can afford it and want it. We deserve nice apartments too. We shouldn’t be forced to live in rundown housing because the city feels bad about hurting some people’s feelings by building nice apartments they can’t afford. There’s plenty of other places to live.

East Orange is in need of townhouses for the residents in our city.

  4. Ppl in and around East Orange cannot afford to live there. A one bedroom in East Orange now available over $1000

  5. ITS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT FOR EAST ORANGE TO GET MORE UNUSED PROPERTIES USED UP FOR LUXURY BUILDINGS WHICH IS NEEDED WHILE AFFORDABLE APARTMENTS STILL AVAILABLE, FOR US THIS IS GREAT FOR INCOMING TAXES AND MIXTURE OF HIGHER INCOME LEVEL TO THE CITY. IF WE STAY MAINLY ONLY FOR JUST POOR PEOPLE ONLY THEN WE WILL NEVER BECOME LIKE JERSEY CITY, HOBOKEN AND OTHER GREAT CITIES. WE HAVE TO WELCOME CHANGES THAT WILL HELP THE CITY WHICH IS KNOWN FOR HIGH CRIMES AND DIRTY STORES AND SIDE WALKS… NOW WE CAN LOOK FORWARD FOR MORE DEVELOPMENT AND GOOD RESTURANTS,,,SAVE LIVING,,,, MULTI CULTURES…WHITE..CHINEESE…BLACK…LATINOS …INDIAN AND LIVE TOGETHER… EAST ORANGE WILL BECOME A NICE PLACE TO RAISE A FAMILY AND PROUD TO SAY….I LIVE IN EAST ORANGE AND ITS A VERY NICE PLACE WHERE WE LIVE IN UNITY AND HAPPINESS….

LETS EMBRACE POSITIVE THINKING AND INVESTMENT IN OUR COMMUNITY AND STOP THINKING IF WE HAVE DIRTY STREETS….HIGH CRIMES….NO IMPROVEMENT THEN WE ….WE ARE FORGOTTEN SO SINCE WE ARE REMEMBERED ….LOVING WHATS COMING..

THE SHOPRITE PARKING LOT IS ALWAYS DIRTY..NO LANDSCAPE…HANGING OUT WITH CAB DRIVERS HANGING OUT IN FRONT OF STORE…AND BEGGERS… I WISH THEY WOULD TEAR DOWN THE WHOLE SHOPRITE AND TURN IT INTO A SMALL ENCLOSE SHOPPING MINI MALL WITH A TALL APARTMENT BUILDING ABOUT 25 STORY AND WITH CONNECTION TO THE BRICK CHURCH TRAIN STATION LIKE IN ORANGE…

  6. People need to stop complaining about people not being able to afford the building. It’s a luxury building so it’s not meant for everyone and that’s okay. I agree with Jamal. We need a diversity of incomes and races in E. Orange if you want the city to evolve as Jersey City and Hoboken have done, and Montclair as well. Affordable housing only brings in more people who need it. Aim higher.

  7. it seems like as a black person we are worried about our city becoming a nice place to live with mixture of color…race …genders and muti sexuality…nice resturants..clean streets… police arresting people for hanging out in front of building.. etc we suddenly we are worried about the city moving in a positive way. we need mixtures of economical people…. will bring more business to the local business in east orange..more taxes…and most of all most investment by keeping crime down and creating a nicer place for us to live. why would you move out when its getting better unless you want it be stay a “HOOD”. Better days are coming and cant wait. The mayor is on the key to getting the city moving forward. clean up and hire more police officers. I also cant wait to see the shoprite torn down and rebuild with a nice apartment and mini mall at the bottom. The Shoprite property is always filty… the cashiers are rude and not train in customer service. the property dose not have any kind of landscape as other Shoprite in white dominated locations… its just always dirty and the exterior needs painting. Im sure if another major supermaket such as whole food move in all these would change. EAST ORANGE IS MOVING FORWARD TO BECOME THE BEST CITY TO LIVE AND CANT WAIT FOR ALL THE POSITIVE THINGS COMING.
