Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 108-15 72nd Avenue in Forest Hills, Queens. Located between Austin Street and major thoroughfare Queens Boulevard, the interior site is close to various transit options. The LIRR Forest Hills train station is two blocks away, and the Forest Hills subway station is another block out, serviced by the E, F, M, and R trains. Xi Zhao of CH Crescent Realty LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The steel-based building will yield 27,667 square feet, with 19,696 square feet allocated to residential space. It will have 26 units, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 757 square feet. The 70-foot tall development will also have a cellar, 13 off-street parking spaces and a 30-foot long rear yard.

Queens-based firm Lu Ning Architecture, PLLC is listed as the architect of record.

No demolition permits have been filed as of yet for the 1935’s two-story mixed-use building currently on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  2. 1935?! Try 1915 or earlier. What a shame to lose another ornate piece of Queens’ architectural history. #nimby

  3. Those remaining row houses wedged between larger buildings might be older but are no longer in context with the surrounding neighborhood. The additional housing near great transportation is badly needed.
