Permits have been filed for a six-story apartment building at 32 Rutgers Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Located between Henry Street and Madison Street, the interior lot is two blocks south of the East Broadway subway station, serviced by the F train. Qiliang Chen of Soho Property LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 60-foot tall development will yield 10,047 square feet, with 7,272 square feet designated for residential space. It will have 10 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 727 square feet. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar and a rear yard 30 feet long.
Jonathan Chin of Indetail Architectural is responsible for the design.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the filings call for the 1910’s one-story building currently on the site to remain. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Why do I feel something extremely offensive is about to rise here? I hope I’m wrong but I suspect I’m not.
Anything that big to replace buildings with so much history and beauty if cleaned up. The previous person obviously does not feel a sense of history there. I grew up on Madison behind these buildings and know how many generations from Italianos, Judios, Puerto Ricans that saw their families spent the short lives they had trying to make in la ciudad ? que uno de freeza.
