“The Dime” is a new, mixed-use complex in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The 23-story project recently topped out, and is located at 209 Havemeyer Street. The building stands out among the surrounding blocks. It is easily visible when coming into the elevated Marcy Avenue subway station, and today, YIMBY has a full update on progress, as well as photos of the views from the top of the new tower.

The 350,000-square foot undertaking is being designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and developed by Charney Construction & Development and Tavros Holdings. The Dime will integrate the landmarked 111-year old Dime Savings Bank as part of the new podium. Douglas Elliman is handling leasing, while JLL is the commercial broker.

A mix of 177 rental units will be housed in the 19-story tower. They will sit above the four-story podium which will include 50,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, over 100,000 square feet of commercial office space, and 300 below-grade parking spaces. The rooftop of the podium will be dedicated to 23,000 square feet of outdoor seating area for office tenants and residents. A mix of amenities will be featured including a basketball court, a yoga room and fitness center, a residential lounge, and a roof deck garden. Grain Collective is the landscape architect, and 1 Oak Contracting is the general contractor.

“The Dime offers a full acre of outdoor space on multiple terraces and rooftop gardens for residents and office tenants,” said Sam Charney, principal at Charney Construction. “The project, which stands adjacent to abundant mass transit in the heart of South Williamsburg, is an ideal location for companies seeking to attract and retain young talent.”

“The Dime creates a mixed-use community that matches evolving lifestyles and work habits,” said Nicholas Silver, partner at Tavros Holdings. “The design supports a live-work-play ecosystem with integrated working and living areas, accommodating technology throughout the building and in the outdoor space to enable residents, employees, and and visitors to work anywhere.”

The site is located adjacent to the Marcy Avenue subway station with access to the J, M, and Z trains. A number of other construction projects are also going up in the vicinity and on the Williamsburg waterfront, adding to the growing density and evolution of the Brooklyn neighborhood.

The Dime is expected to be completed sometime by the end of 2019.
