New York’s newest Ritz Carlton Hotel is making progress at 1185 Broadway in NoMad. Construction has passed the first several high-ceiling podium levels, and work should begin soon on the main hotel portion of the reinforced concrete structure. Located at the northern intersection of Broadway and West 28th Street, the 580-foot-tall, 40-story skyscraper is designed by Rafael Vinoly, while MarriottRitz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties are developing the $500 million project. The interiors are being designed by Yabu Pushelberg.

A recent photo by YIMBY user, JC_Heights, shows the superstructure filling in the corner lot.

The Ritz Carlton at 1185 Broadway is now several stories above street level.

This lower section of the hotel will be covered in large, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and dark paneling. The next couple of stories above appear to be mechanical levels with equally high ceiling heights and an outdoor loggia. This portion of the tower is architecturally similar to the flat crown of the structure. The row of six columns in the rendering will run up the full height of the skyscraper and break up the glass curtain wall. The hotel and residential level will sit between these lower mechanical stories and beneath an open, landscaped terrace, as visualized by the trees in the rendering.

The development will create 150,000 square feet of space and come with 250 guest rooms and 16 residential units. Amenities for guests and residents include a spa, a fitness center, bicycle parking, a public ground-floor restaurant with a bar, and a rooftop bar.

Completion of 1185 Broadway is expected by late 2020 or early 2021.

There’s a reason no one ever sees trees planted on top of a 40 story building.

  2. My name is William Hill of Local 7 TMT NY NJ,
I have a few contractors bidding 1185 Broadway. We have cut our rates and put our members money into being competing on this project. However we can’t compete with companies that hire a work force that does not have a paper trail of true payroll tax , and in in some cases no social security numbers they have tax is numbers. I personally have worked on Ritz Carlton Hotels , and would like my members to continue that. So I am asking for a fair shot at hiring one of our hardworking, legitimate tax paying members and companies for this project. The hiring of Tile – Marble companies paying cheap unfair wages is becoming a huge issue, and below Ritz Carlton standards . My union number is 718-786-7648, cell is 917-734-8390. am sure GCLend Lease , can vouch for our workforce. Thank You ,and hope to hear from someone at Ritz Carlton.
