New Rochelle recently granted approvals for the construction of what will be the largest-ever mixed-use development in the city’s history. Located at 11 Lawton Street, the dual-tower development will feature 143 condominiums, 453 rental units, and a 190-key hotel. Additional components include 8,102 square feet of restaurant and bar space, 2,953 square feet of retail space, and 627 on-site parking spaces.

Designed by Hill West Architects, the building will eventually comprise 800,000 square feet and creatively repurpose a portion of the historic National City Bank of New Rochelle originally completed in 1906. The bank structure is incorporated into the podium of the building, which transitions from classic red brick masonry to a modern glass curtain wall.

The project arrives as part of an initiative to reinvigorate Downtown New Rochelle as a transit-rich mixed-use district. When complete, the plan will yield 12 million square feet of new construction including both private and publicly accessible areas.

“This project is a key ingredient in the downtown revitalization as it adds significantly to the district’s residential options,” said Luiz Aragon, New Rochelle’s commissioner of development. “Additionally, the new hotel fleshes out downtown’s growing hospitality infrastructure in a way that serves the business community, accommodates conference planners, and supports the expansion of tourism.”

Project developers DB Main and 11 Lawton, LLC have not confirmed a completion date for the project.

  1. will the rentals be market rate only or will it include a certain number of affordable or low income units.

  2. I wanted to know the same question as above. Will any rental apartments be for senior or low income?

  3. Who is the developer behind the 11 Lawton LLC and who is DB Main out of San Francisco

I will love to move there looking for a quite relaxing place to old for drama

  5. I’m sure the new development will compliment the strong urine stench that radiates from the front of the existing structure. And the homeless man that also lives out front!!!!!!!!

  6. Dear Mr. Aragon…or should I say “Arrogant”? What makes you think that a building of this stature is needed or wanted in New Rochelle? You have turned our once quaint and beautiful city into a nightmare!!! You can’t get from point A to point B without an enormous amount of traffic. What use to take 10 minutes now takes an hour due to all of the cars on the road!!! NOBODY FITS IN NEW ROCHELLE ANYMORE!! JUST STOP IT!!! HOMELESS EVERYWHERE!!! You are just fooling all of these city folks to come on over to good old New Rochelle meanwhile little do they know that this place is getting dangerous and completely out of control…THANKS TO YOU!!!!

  7. Please let Me know A.S.A.P about the Condos availability for purchase.Growth is a good Thing. The homeless and filth downtown are a problem that can not be blamed on development.Get New Rochelle BID and City Planner to get in the streets and address the problems…

  8. WESTCHESTER COUNTY POLITICIANS WILL NOT CHANGE IF I SEE THEY CLAIMED THAT Mount Vernon HAS A GOOD AMERICAN FOOTBALL TEAM WHILE NEGLECTING THE ABYSMALS ACADEMIC RECORDS OF MINORTY STUDENTS, THEY WILL NOT CHANGE.
