Construction is nearing completion at 211 Schermerhorn Street in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Exterior work is essentially finished, with only the ground floor and second story awaiting curtain wall installation. The 14-story residential project is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and is being developed by Oestreicher Properties and GPB Capital Holdings, LLC, which purchased the site for $30 million in 2017. Inside are 48 units ranging from one- to three-bedroom homes.

The building features a simple design that draws upon a traditional New York architectural style, with a curtain wall of Danish bricks and an orderly grid of industrial-style windows. Contrasting with the warm-colored masonry façade is the solid, dark-colored cornice that caps the edifice.

The top floor contains three penthouse units with ten-foot-high ceilings, arched windows, and private rooftop spaces ranging from 436 to 680 square feet apiece. Amenities for 211 Schermerhorn Street include a residents’ lounge, a fitness center, a 24-hour lobby, and a private kitchen on the 1,138-square-foot outdoor rooftop deck. Surrounding the main entrance and Lagos Azul limestone-clad lobby will be 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

The Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station entrance is located right next door, with access to the A, C, and G trains. A number of shops and dining establishments abound in the neighborhood, including the DeKalb Market Hall with 40 food vendors, Trader Joe’s and Target at City Point Brooklyn, and Century 21, Macy’s, and Nordstrom Rack along Fulton Street.

Work on 211 Schermerhorn Street should likely wrap up completely in the first half of 2020.

Very nice take on the “warehouse/industrial” style. Lives up to rendering.

  2. Really like how this turned out. Morris Adjmi certainly knows how to design buildings that speak to the area/history

  3. Facade panels doesn’t look good placed.

  4. Only a year behind schedule

  5. Nice looking building. Glad to see a boutique building that blends in with the area
