Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 1971 Madison Avenue in Harlem, Manhattan. Located at the intersection of East 127th Street and Madison Avenue, the lot is four blocks from the 125th Street subway station, serviced by the 4, 5, and 6 trains. Round Square Development is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 85-foot-tall development will yield 116,880 square feet, with 77,462 square feet designated for residential space and 31,110 square feet for community facility space. The building will have 93 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 832 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a 30-foot-long rear yard and 117 enclosed parking spaces.

DXA Studio Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in January. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

What are they knocking down? I’ll all for building more housing but unless it’s matching the rest of the brownstone on the block and similar in height this should be blocked.
