Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 87 Winthrop Street in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. Located between Flatbush Avenue and Bedford Avenue, the lot is two blocks from the Parkside Avenue subway station, serviced by the Q train and two blocks from the Winthrop Street station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Steven Goltche under the 87 Winthrop BH LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 55-foot-tall development will yield 10,891 square feet, with 8,313 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have eight residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,039 square feet. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar, a 46-foot-long rear yard, and one enclosed parking space.

Yosef Melamed of Melamed Architect is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. It’s absolutely horrible how these beautiful homes are being torn down and replaced by 4 story 10 unit dwellings. I looked at 83 Winthrop next door. The size of the bedrooms are just bigger than a closet. I believe jail cells are bigger. And the rent is $2300. College dorm rooms are bigger. Is this the way of gentrification? Is this what we are bing reduced to type of living? Is this acceptable in our society? Is this what we call progress? To sell a beautiful home for 1.6 million and the get this!!!!!!! Is this American greed? Just some of my thoughts. I don’t know or have all the answers. But it just don’t seem right. Have a Happy Happy New year.
