Full demolition permits have been filed for 22 West 137th Street and 21 West 136th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. The two lots back onto each other and are part of the Harlem Hospital Center, owned by NYC Health + Hospitals. The block-long complex currently houses six buildings. The one-story building located on 21 West 136th Street has a 60-foot street frontage and the Women’s Pavilion, and a five-story building located on 22 West 137th Street has a 100-foot street frontage.

No announcements have been made about the future use of these lots.

22 West 137th Street and 21 West 136th Street are located between Lenox Avenue and Fifth Avenues, a couple short blocks from the 135th Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 3 trains.

Age Engineering LLC is listed as the applicant of record.

  1. In Street View the sign on the 137th Street scaffolding says “construction of a new Parking Facility and EMS station will begin with the demolition of the Out Patient Department building.” If the scaffolded building is the one that’s doomed, it looks historic.

  2. Is this the old Harlem hospital than where is housing and preservation
    Should be a landmark if it is why is this happening.?

  3. I hope this will be usedfor residence. And will provide adequate housing with all the homeless on trains

  4. The city denied a zoning change request for the Lennox Terrace development just a block away.

    Will be interested to see how the 130’s in Central Harlem is transformed.
