Non-Profit Dress For Success Celebrates Completion Of New Offices In Jamaica, Queens

Dress for Success Worldwide recently completed a new office in Jamaica, Queens, where the global organization plans to expand its regional operations. The single-story building is located at 129-11 Merrick Boulevard and was designed in partnership with Gensler.

Founded in 1997, Dress for Success helps women around the world achieve economic independence by providing a professional attire, support services, and other vocational tools. The new location features a career center where clients can take digital professional development programs and an upscale clothing boutique that offers professional attire for job seekers.

“Dress for Success has been helping women in Queens become financially independent and upwardly mobile since 2001,” said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide. “The opening of our new office and boutique is an exciting milestone that will allow us to enhance our programs and services and extend them to a larger client base in the community and neighboring areas.”

Construction management firm Henegan Construction also extended its generosity to Dress for Success, spearheading the development of the project and helping to secure material donations and pro bono labor from industry vendors.

“As a woman-led construction company for nearly 30 years, Henegan is committed to supporting organizations like Dress for Success,” said Maureen Henegan, chairman and CEO of Henegan Construction. “We are grateful for the opportunity to help fulfill their vision of dignity, self-worth, empowerment, and economic independence for all women, and to partner with Gensler and some of the best trade contractors and suppliers in New York on this project.”

To date, Dress for Success has served more than one million women worldwide. The grand opening ceremony took place on January 24 with notable attendees including U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks, Queens Borough president Sharon Lee, Nassau County legislator Carrie Solages, and New York City Council members Adrienne E. Adams, and Donovan Richards, in addition to members of the project team.

I wanted to donate 100% of profits to Dress for Success. Sharon from your Brookhaven location suggested I reach out to you bc I’m hosting in Queens. Please let me know what I need to do. I believe it need to sign a MOU.
