Façade work is making progress on 232 East 54th Street, a 420-foot-tall residential tower in Midtown East. The 40-story structure is designed by Ismael Leyva Architects, and Elk Investors is last reported to be its exclusive developer, though ownership may have fully transferred to Mossanen Group and an LLC known as East 54th St. Properties. The topped-out tower rises between Second and Third Avenues, not far from landmarks like the Lipstick Building and 601 Lexington Avenue, formerly known as the Citigroup Center.
New photographs show the final façade panels being installed on the podium along East 54th Street. The warm-colored material makes for a clean, minimalistic finish that is almost flush with the grid of square windows, much like the fenestration of 432 Park Avenue. There are hundreds of metal clips in place in front of the black waterproof layer elsewhere on the edifice, awaiting the installation of the rest of the exterior paneling. We should expect to see the remainder of the cladding take shape over the coming months. Meanwhile, all of the large windows appear to be in place on each of the four symmetrical sides of the tower.

232 East 54th Street will contain 130 rental units atop ground-floor retail space. Residential amenities include a fitness center, a shared rooftop terrace, an outdoor entertainment space, a laundry room, and a bicycle storage room. The nearest subways are the E and M trains at the Lexington Avenue-53rd Street station and the 4, 5, 6, N, R, and W trains at the Lexington Avenue-59th Street station.
