Global luxury streetwear and sneaker retailer Concepts recently debuted a new flagship destination at 99 University Place in Union Square, Manhattan. The 2,500-square-foot store offers nearly twice the floor space of the former Concepts flagship.

Designed by global creative agency Sid Lee, the store is described as a retail pavilion with minimal adornments or frills that often distract patrons from the products. The open layout is meant to create an inviting atmosphere for customers to discover and explore new brands.

“We’ve always loved the energy around the Union Square neighborhood; it reminds us a lot of our first Harvard Square [Massachusetts] location,” said Tarek Hassan, founder and CEO of Concepts. “So, when 99 University Place became available, it felt like home for Concepts.”

Concepts’ opening weekend featured releases from big name brands including Nike, Jordan, and Yeezy by Kanye West among many others. The New York City store will also include products from longtime partners, new streetwear brands, and Concepts private label products.

With a larger space to support the brand, Concepts plans to expand their reach within the New York community, leveraging the new store on social and digital platforms to engage consumers in events and activations.

  1. A sneaker store, really? Is YIMBY trying to be Hypebeast now?

  2. Under normal circumstances I’d be excited about this store opening, but given how bad things have gotten in NYC I pray they have security 24/7. (so sad)

  3. I think it looks cool
