Construction has topped out on 550 Clinton Avenue, a 29-story residential tower in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Hope Street Capital, the structure rises from a four-story podium bound by Atlantic Avenue to the south, Clinton Avenue to the east, and Vanderbilt Avenue to the west. The 280,000-square-foot development will yield 284 apartments and about 60,000 square feet of retail area.

New photographs show the façade climbing up along the flat and angled edges of the floor plates. The mechanical extension atop the roof was seen being finished with the last assembly of concrete formwork creating the outer walls. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels on the wide eastern and western sides are being wedged between the concrete fenestration.

Meanwhile the construction crane continues to swivel and hoist materials up and down the superstructure. For now the isolated position of the building gives it abundant natural light exposure, and the only nearby building of significant height is COOKFOX’s 550 Vanderbilt Avenue, which is located across the open-air rail lines to the south. This will eventually change once the Pacific Park mega development is eventually completed and covers the tracks.

550 Clinton Avenue will feature an outdoor pool on the top of the podium. Additional amenities located within the podium include a fitness center, indoor lounge areas, and a co-working center. These would all rest above ground-floor retail space. YIMBY last reported that Hope Street Capital is planning to fund repairs for the adjacent Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew, including a partial replacement of the historic belfry, colonettes, and areas of degradation in the masonry façade.

It looks like 550 Clinton Avenue could be finished in the latter half of this year.

The building structure is strong, stable and does not break easily; because it is built with good quality materials: Thank you.

  2. Something different from Adjimi. Nice. It reminds me of The Butterfly going up/almost complete in Vancouver.

  3. This is a very good looking building.

  4. This building is beautiful .
Will there be a percentage for middle income?
Will these apartments be for sale or rental ?

I want an application for a one bedroom please email me an application to [email protected] thank you very much.

  6. Not sure who’s going to pay the rent to live in luxury housing there. The location is generally excellent but that block in the vicinity of Atlantic and Vanderbilt attracts a lot of characters to say the least.

  7. How in the world is this building going to yield 284 apartments? That has to be a typo… or it’ll be filled with studios.

  8. Wrong address. 550 Clinton Ave is an under construction 4-story building. 539 Vanderbilt Ave is the 29-story building. Look at the building Permits. More Yimby mistakes.

  9. Wow! I always like when architects get creative with modern box structures, and this is no exception. What a twist!
