Construction is nearing completion on 41-03 21st Street, a nine-story, 115-room hotel in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Michael Kang Architect and developed by Vision Asset Group LLC, the 91-foot-tall structure stands at the corner of 21st Street and 41st Avenue by the 21st Street-Queensbridge station, servicing the F train. Sam Sai Hospitality LLC is set to operate the 34,440-square-foot hotel.

The corner lot is still surrounded by green construction boards, while the sidewalk scaffolding was taken down this past winter. A finalized rendering for 41-03 21st Street was never revealed, and the only previous indication of the project is a preliminary black-and-white 2D elevation posted on the information board. Nonetheless, the black netting and scaffolding that once enclosed the edifice has been fully taken down, revealing a blue and white paneling system surrounding an orthodox grid of windows. Black ventilation grilles are placed under most of the windows and blend with the dark-colored mullions. There are several spotlights placed just below the roof parapet that point downward on the northern and western sides of the structure. Overall, the color palette certainly draws attention to the height and appearance of the façade against the low-rise brick-clad commercial and residential structures surrounding the property.

Since permits were filed all the way back in 2013, progress had been slow with a completion date for 21-03 21st Street pushed back from the winter 2017 to 2018. Now it appears the project will finally be completed in the coming months.
