There are still units available in the affordable housing lottery for 1609 Voorhies Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Designed by Bricolage Designs, the new structure yields 10 residences and ground-floor commercial space. Available on NYC Housing Connect are three units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $72,000 to $167,570.

Residents will have access to an elevator, shared laundry room, and rooftop access. Tenants are responsible for electricity which includes heat and gas which includes stove and hot water.

At 130 percent of the AMI, there are three two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $2,100 for incomes ranging from $72,000 to $167,570.

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than October 7, 2021.

  1. Why do these projects have to be so inept? Did “Bricolage” actually get a degree in architecture? It’s so sad that with the same pile of materials and the same budget, any graduate of an accredited architecture school ought to be able to design something far better than this. Anyone involved in the design of this pile of rubbish ought to be ashamed. Everyone deserves good architecture, not just market-rate clients.

    • DOB needs to up the aesthetic standards but so much damage has already been done. Just look at all the fedders eyesores, and that was happening for decades.

  2. Bricolage and Badaly and a handful of others out to be run out of town on a rail.

  3. Look at the bathroom. This is a new building? I mean really.

  4. The kitchen and bathroom are total garbage. Thankfully Bricolage is only intermittently pooping out buildings now instead of 5 a week like the mid-2000s.
