Permits have been filed for a 17-story mixed-use building at 1393 York Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Located at the northwest corner of 74th Street and York Avenue, the lot is near the 72nd Street subway station, serviced by the Q train. Weill Cornell Medical College is listed as the owner behind the applications, after purchasing the property for $68 million from the Church of the Epiphany. The new development will hold student residences, student common centers, a fitness center, and support spaces.

The proposed 202-foot-tall development will yield 128,205 square feet, with 107,815 square feet designated for community facility space and 20,390 square feet for residential space. The building will have 31 residences, with an average unit scope of 657 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar, sub-cellar, and a 30-foot-long rear yard.

Perkins + Will Architects is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed yet for the religious structure on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

So the congregation is dissolved. I wonder what they did with the $68 million.

  3. Other documents lists the total unit count as 221 which makes more sense given the job scope.

  4. yea what did they do with the $68 million dollars if there is no congregation?

  5. Congregation is not dissolved. It purchased a building nearby and is moving.
