Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 1730 Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Located at the intersection of Empire Boulevard and Bedford Avenue, the corner lot is a couple blocks from the Sterling Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Jack Gold of Seventh Street Development Group, under the 1730 Bedford Realty LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 94-foot-tall development will yield 134,391 square feet, with 38,798 square feet designated for residential space, 39,596 square feet for community facility space, and 55,997 square feet for commercial space. The building will have 57 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 680 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have 209 enclosed parking spaces, cellar, sub-cellar, and one loading berth.
Rise Architecture is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed in September for the single-story building on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

So it’s a new parking garage with some housing.
Considering there’s almost 40k sf of community facility and commercial, the zoning probably requires a lot of parking. It literally is a industrial / commercial avenue so I wouldn’t be surprised.
What did the old building used to be? It looks pretty interesting.
this was originally the entrance to the old Brooklyn Ebbets Field home of the Brooklyn Dodgers which was right next door and is now the Ebbets Field housing projects.
It was a Firestone tire and automotive repair shop, not the entrance to Ebbets Field! Also Ebbets Field is an apartment complex, not a housing project

Denise Hinton was you asking about Ebbetts field or the new building that’s going up? They didn’t give any info pertaining to the new building that no one knew was going up and probably are not being built for us. Lidl I heard was coming have to see if it’s worth it
