At number 23 on our year-end countdown is Journal Squared Tower 3, a 60-story residential skyscraper under construction in Jersey City‘s Journal Square neighborhood. Designed by HWKN Architecture and Handel Architects and developed by Kushner Real Estate Group and National Real Estate Advisors, the tower is the final component of the three-skyscraper complex and will top out as the second tallest, yielding 600 rental apartments with interiors designed by Major and Handel Architects. The development is bound by Pavonia Avenue to the north and Summit Avenue to the east. Groundbreaking occurred in early October.

Photographs of the complex taken from New Jersey and New York show the prominence of the completed skyscrapers, with the tallest standing 754 feet tall. Given the generous distance between Journal Squared and the main downtown cluster of towers along the Hudson River waterfront, the buildings offer residents sweeping views of the entire New York City skyline. The architecturally cohesive third structure will eventually balance out the overall look of the three-tower scheme and be most apparent when looking north and south.

The elevated terrain also helps to make Journal Squared stand out when traveling around the outer edges of Jersey City.

From Lower Manhattan, the towers still maintain a significant presence with their streamlined façades and grids of tightly spaced windows, much like 432 Park Avenue.

The full Journal Squared complex will yield 1,840 residences, 36,000 square feet of dining and retail area, and a direct connection to the Journal Square Transportation Center, servicing the PATH trains to the Oculus at the World Trade Center, 33rd Street below Herald Square, Hoboken, as well as Newark Penn Station to the west. The Marketing Directors is in charge of marketing and leasing services for Journal Squared Tower 2, which is addressed as 615 Summit Avenue and is the newest part of the master plan to open to occupants earlier this summer.

Journal Squared Tower 3 will boast 18,000 square feet of amenities including a performance lounge, a karaoke room, recording spaces, a makerspace area, a co-working lounge, a lobby café, and a sky lounge. These join the nearly 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities currently spread across the existing towers, which are shared by all residents.

The final building is slated for completion in spring 2024.

Some angles that I saw, make me miss Twin Towers. Rendering of all three towers show its superstructure, with very beautiful skyscraper. When you look near or far, it’s very prominent: Thanks to Michael Young.

    It’s very… Neo-Speer.
    How ironically appropriate.

  4. Leave politics out of these comments..so unnecessary..

  5. I will admit, these two are REALLY impressive. They dominate the whole area. I can’t imagine how the third (and even taller) one will look like.
