Permits have been filed for a 23-story mixed-use building at 250 W 49th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Located between Broadway and Eighth Avenue, the lot is one block west of the 49th Street subway station, serviced by the N, R, and W trains. The Hakimian Organization is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 241-foot-tall development will have a 5,460-square-foot footprint, however it is unclear how much square footage will allotted to residential and commercial space. The concrete-based structure will have 136 residences, ground-floor retail, a cellar, and a 30-foot-long rear yard.

C3D Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in August for the eight-story building on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

    The need for greed continues.

  2. Nice facade on existing building. It’s a shame that it couldn’t be saved

  3. What a shame that those beautiful motifs will be demolished in the name of Greed.
Why can’t the building be incorporated into the new building?
    I agree with David.
The greedy developers are at it again and we will probably see another out of context glass cube made with non union workers.

    • They’ll probably salvage the stone motifs. Would be cool to reicorporate them into a new building but I’m sure they won’t cause that might seem “hard.”

  4. C3D has some fairly good work. I’m for it.

  5. The comments here are ridiculous. This is supposed to by NewYorkYIMBY, not NewYorkNIMBY. There’s nothing particularly special about the building that is being replaced. More housing is a good thing.
