Construction is complete on 23-20 Jackson Avenue, a nine-story mixed-use building in Long Island CityQueens. Designed by KSQ Architects and developed by The Vorea Group, the 85,851-square-foot structure yields retail space, offices, and a 72-room hotel operated by San Francisco-based hotelier Sonder Corp. King Contracting Group was in charge of assembling the red brick façade for the property, which is located at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Pearson Street.

Since our last update in July, all of the scaffolding has been removed from the property, revealing the full finished design.

The upper portion of 23-20 Jackson Avenue’s façade features a window grid with two-story vertical groups of windows joined by angled metal panels of varying thicknesses. Larger panes of floor-to-ceiling glass are found below, from the ground floor to the third story. There are black ventilation grilles and a gray spandrel below each window.

The red masonry bricks are evenly laid across the sides facing Jackson Avenue and Pearson Street, and a dark cornice line caps the flat roof parapet, adding a contrast of color.

23-20 Jackson Avenue has ground-floor and cellar-level retail space. The cellar has been leased, while Compass occupies all the office space on the second and third stories. On the rooftop will be an upcoming Manhattan-based bar operator with an announcement shortly coming. The only available remaining retail space is 1,200 square feet with Jackson Avenue frontage and a 3,600-Square foot triple-height restaurant space with a Pearson Avenue entrance. This space includes 2,100 square feet of private outdoor terrace space. Finally the hotel portion spans the fourth through the ninth floors.

Both office workers and hotel guests have views of the Long Island City skyline to the north, and the property is conveniently located across the street from the 7 and G trains at the Court Square station. The E and M trains are also nearby at the Court Square-23rd Street station just to the north along 44th Drive.

  1. Great little building. If only they could all look this good.

Wow, this is beautiful! LIC really needs more new buildings like this as its historic buildings continue to be destroyed.

    • What?? It doesn’t wiggle, cantilever or have a different set of materials at the top?! The facade has depth? Nice solid building. Bravo.

  3. This firm does good work. They did 360 Smith St in Carroll Gardens which is top notch with an integrated subway entrance. Very well done. Check out their website, it looks like there’s one or two new projects on their. The LIC one looks excellent.

  4. Wow! I almost thought it was a modernization of an old 20th century building. It looks amazing.
