Construction is rising on 26 Van Reipen Avenue, a 27-story residential tower in Jersey City‘s seven-building, 2.1-million-square-foot Homestead Place master plan. Designed by C3D Architecture and developed by Nambar Group, the 315-foot-tall structure will yield 235 rental apartments in studio to three-bedroom layouts. The property will also feature ground-floor retail, office space on the third floor, and a swimming pool. The development is located at the intersection of Van Reipen Avenue and Homestead Place.

Recent photos show the reinforced concrete superstructure standing 11 stories high, with an array of wooden formwork on the upper levels assisting in the formation of the latest floors. Crews could likely reach the midpoint of 26 Van Reipen Avenue by this summer, with a topping out closer to the end of the year.

The renderings show the façade composed of floor-to-ceiling windows with a uniform grid of sleek metal paneling. There is a subtle cantilever on the fourth story, and the building is divided into five stacked boxes with horizontal bands. A flat roof parapet caps the tower.

  1. It’s obvious that they didn’t give a damn about the neighborhood. All those single family houses and then a huge ugly building right there. Disgusting.

  2. Is Jersey City now the only major city in the country that regularly builds PTACs into “luxury” buildings?

There are some new NYC buildings that also have them. Technology improvements have greatly increased their efficiancy and they don’t directly emit poison like fossil gas heating. Offshore wind is coming.

      • The fact remains they are giant holes in the building envelope and detract significantly from the walls’ energy performance.

  3. Context be damned for all these tall buildings in those images.

  4. Quit whining AOC followers. Useless, Liberal Smuts..

    • No, troll—not that, not here. Talk about the building, or why you’re opposed to energy efficiency, or plug your pie hole.

  5. It’s literally stacked glass boxes—nobody?!?

  6. This is one of the coolest projects going on in Jersey as this vibrant neighborhood heals from the blight of the parking lots and vacant land that were destroying the neighborhood. These buildings stitch together the community creating a new sense of community and place.
