Rose Equities and Garden Communities are working in partnership to transform the former Renaissance Westchester Hotel into a 28-acre mixed-use community with more than 700 apartments. Located at 80 West Red Oak Lane in West Harrison, a small town in Westchester County, the property will debut as Renaissance Harrison.

Plans are now being reviewed by the Harrison Planning Board and will undergo a state-mandated environmental review before shovels can break ground.

Perkins Eastman is the project’s lead architect. Additional members of the team include architect Moore Ruble Yudell, multi-hyphenate design studios Sasaki and Studio Valerius.

“The proposed 28-acre community will be unlike any other development in Westchester,” said Rose Equities principal Leonard Glickman. “It will adhere to 21st-century standards of walking and biking, sustainability, and respect for the property’s outstanding natural landscape.”

If approved, the development will be constructed in two phases, each consisting of a residential quad, outdoor gathering spaces known as the Commons, and two sets of triplex villas known as the Mansion. The residential components will comprise a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, and up to 380 units for each phase. The most premium homes will include private terraces.

Residential amenities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness centers, tennis courts, fire pits, and an outdoor amphitheater.

The development team will also preserve and renovate a Normandy-style home on the property dating back to 1905. Known as The Mansion, the property is the former home of architect John Merven Carrere who famously designed the New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building in Manhattan with fellow architect Thomas Hastings.

The project could bring as much as $30 million in annual tax revenue to the Town of Harrison.
