The Apsley’s Façade Nears Completion at 2330 Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

2330 Broadway. Designed by SLCE Architects.

Façade installation is nearing completion on The Apsley, a 19-story residential building at 2330 Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by SLCE Architects with interiors by Champalimaud Design and developed by Welltower and Hines, the structure will yield 76 assisted living and 80 memory care apartments in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with a capacity of up to 178 residents. Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Broadway and West 85th Street.

More of the warm red brick façade has enclosed the building since our last update in May, and the tower now stands clad up to its parapet. Only the bottom two floors have yet to wrap up exterior work. These levels will feature a white stone finish that will add a nice contrast to the overall look of the tower.

Crews were spotted on hanging scaffolding rigs putting together finishing elements on the exterior, including spandrels between the windows. New signage for the Apsley is displayed on the scaffolding with a dark blue background.

The main setback and the northern corner terrace on the top of the building will be populated with greenery and trellises for climbing vegetation, and lined with glass railings.

Residential amenities include a spa, a care center, landscaped outdoor terraces, a dining bistro, an art studio, a theater, and a library curated by a local bookseller.

The Apsley’s leasing gallery is located in the building, which is expected to open for occupancy next spring.

It’s a good enough design, but the rendering looks better.

  2. I don’t get the point of that 2 foot setback that’s present here but not depicted in the rendering. Was the addition of 18-24 inches of sidewalk really worth boogering up the streetwall?

  3. Honestly it kind of looks like a nicer new public housing style.

Also note it’s just ‘facade,’ you do not need to use la cedille when writing in English (that’s the little squiggly thing under the c in French).

  4. Any section 8 accepted
