Permits have been filed for a 34-story commercial tower at 413 Ninth Avenue in Midtown West, Manhattan. Located between West 33rd and West 34th Streets, the lot is two blocks from the 34 Street-Hudson Yards subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Cove Property Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 535-foot-tall development will yield 287,692 square feet for commercial space. The concrete-based building will have both retail and office space, as well as a cellar.

Nickolas Zigomanis of AAI Architects is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in December 2022 for four buildings at 413-421 Ninth Avenue, made up of three four-story buildings and one two-story building. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. The only remaing lo-rise building left in that block is B&H Photo Video directly across the street. I guess it is only a matter of time before that is gone also.

    • Let’s be honest, B & H Photo is an amazing store but is very closterphobic. I’d love to see them relocate in a newer building with higher ceilings and better lighting.

    • This development spans lots 40 through 44, i.e. everything fronting on 9th Ave, except the corner buildings, and ACRIS show it has a merged zoning lot with the low-rise residential building directly behind the site on lot 50(Madison Garden Apartments), which should ensure the residential building is preserved. It will be interesting to see how this building is designed. Presumably they will try to have have office views to both the east and west with the stair and elevator cores either on the north or south side to keep the floor plans open.

  3. Will there be any low rise century old buildings left in NYC anymore.
    If the developers have their way the answer is no.
    More housing for the rich when we are in the middle of a housing crisis

  4. The best thing that was ever and likely will ever be on this block was the Cheyenne Diner. What a shame it was lost.
