Located in the northeastern corner of Maiden Lane and Front Street, just south of the South Street Seaport District in Lower Manhattan, construction on 151 Maiden Lane is wrapping up, with the cladding of its tinted and angled blue glass now fully enclosing the building.
151 Maiden Lane
One Seaport isn’t one of the tallest buildings going up in the Financial District at the moment, which is actually one of the most obvious testaments to how substantial the neighborhood’s ongoing boom is, as the tower will eventually stand 57 floors and 670 feet to its rooftop. But its location near the waterfront means that the skyscraper doesn’t need quite as much height as some other sites to take advantage of views and achieve prominence on the cityscape, and it is now doing exactly that as it approaches the halfway point in its rise, with glass installation also starting.
Construction is now six floors above street level on the 57-story, 80-unit residential tower under development at 161 Maiden Lane, located on the corner of South Street in the Financial District. Progress on the structure can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the 670-foot-tall tower, dubbed 1 Seaport, will encompass 192,473 square feet.
Construction is now 10 stories above street level on the 33-story, 271-key AC Hotel, a Marriott brand, under development at 151 Maiden Lane, located on the corner of Front Street in the Financial District. The progress can be seen thanks to a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the structure will measure 139,891 square feet and stand 336 feet to its pinnacle at the top of the bulkhead. Retail space will occupy some of the ground floor and hotel rooms will be located on the third through 30th floors. LCRE Group is the developer and Pizzarotti-IBC is building the project. Peter F. Poon’s SoHo-based architecture firm is the architect. Completion is expected in the summer of 2017.
At the intersection of the Financial District and the beginnings of South Street Seaport lies Maiden Lane, which is rapidly transforming into a continuation of the high-rise corridor to the south. On one particular corner, at the intersection with Front Street, two buildings are now rising. Thanks to YIMBY Forumer Rich Brome we have photos of the new hotel coming to 151 Maiden Lane, which is already several floors above street level, as well as the residential tower rising at One Seaport, climbing next door at a slightly slower pace.
