Two-Tower, 1,115-Unit Mixed-Use Project Pierces Skyline at 22-44 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City

Construction is now 15 stories above street level on the taller tower of the two-building, 1,115-unit mixed-use project at 22-44 Jackson Avenue, located in the Court Square section of Long Island City. Foundation work is underway on the shorter tower. The structure can be seen thanks to aerial photos posted to the YIMBY Forums by Tectonic. The latest building permits indicate the entire complex will encompass 1,209,884 square feet.

Two-Towered 1,115-Unit Mixed-Use Development Rises To Second Floor At 22-44 Jackson Avenue Long Island City

Construction is now two stories above street level—a two-story increase since the end of May—on the two-towered, 48- and 41-story, 1,115-unit mixed-use development replacing 5Pointz at 22-44 Jackson Avenue, in the Court Square section of Long Island City. The latest photos of the site can be seen at The Court Square Blog. The entire complex will encompass 1,209,884 square feet, including 39,765 square feet of commercial space on the ground and cellar levels. Some of that space will be for 20 artists’ studios. The residential units will be rentals averaging 876 square feet apiece. Twenty percent of them, or 223 units, will rent at below-market rates through the affordable housing lottery. G&M Realty is the developer and HTO Architect is behind the architecture. Completion is expected towards the end of 2017.

Back in July of 2014, YIMBY revealed renderings of the two-towered, 1,115-unit mixed-use development underway at 22-44 Jackson Avenue, located in the Court Square section of Long Island City. Following the demolition of the 5 Pointz warehouse, excavation began in August of 2015 for the new buildings, followed by foundation work in November later that year. Now, a portion of the site closest to Jackson Avenue is at street level and beginning to rise, as seen by photos via Curbed NY and The Court Square Blog. The northern and southern towers, which will be connected by a common two-story base, will rise 48 and 41 stories respectively.

Back in August, excavation began for G&M Realty’s planned 48- and 41-story, 1.2-million square-foot mixed-use development at 22-44 Jackson Avenue, in Long Island City. Now, foundation work is underway at the site, according to The Court Square Blog. HTO-Architect is designing the project, which will include 1,116 residential units and 39,765 square feet of retail space. Completion is expected in the winter of 2017.
