Foundation Work Making Headway at Extell’s One Manhattan Square, at 250 South Street

Extell was the city’s first developer to put up a residential building of 1,000 feet or greater, and while the construction of One57 was fraught with complications, practice will hopefully make perfect. Despite initial difficulties and buckling streets, the latest photos from Tectonic show One Manhattan Square is now making major headway, at 250 South Street.

Extell’s 250 South Street Will Total 68 Floors & 1.1 Million Square Feet

In May, YIMBY revealed partial renderings of Extell’s planned residential tower at 250 South Street, and at the time, DOB filings indicated it was to stand 56 stories, spanning 939,850 square feet. Now, according to DNAinfo, permits show a tower closer to the initially proposed building, standing 68 stories and 800 feet tall, and measuring 1,105,386 square feet. The project now includes 802 residential units, and 25,516 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.

First Look: Renderings for Extell’s 250 South Street

Extell’s new tower coming to 250 South Street received an on-site rendering a few months ago, but now YIMBY has the first up-close look at the project, as well as a few interiors. The building will rise on the site of an old Pathmark, and while it was initially expected to be 68 stories tall, it was reduced to 56 floors on the latest DOB filings.
