Activity Resumes on 1,011-Foot Supertall at 262 Fifth Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan

Excavation has finally begun at 262 Fifth Avenue, the site of a long-planned 1,011-foot-tall residential supertall skyscraper in NoMad. Designed by Russian-based firm Meganom with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and developed by Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development under the Five Points 262 Project, LLC, the 60-story tower will yield 139,168 square feet of residential space divided into 41 units and 10,850 square feet of retail space on the first two floors. CM & Associates Construction Management, LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street.

NoMad’s First Planned Supertall At 262 Fifth Avenue Appears Stalled, in Midtown Manhattan

Situated at the southwestern corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street is the site of a proposed 1,009-foot condominium tower, known as 262 Fifth Avenue. Renderings were first released in late 2017, showing the very skinny and slender residential building towering over NoMad and Midtown South. Composed of a mix of glass and aluminum walls, the supertall would certainly stand out on the skyline for its height and profile. After the DOB approved plans back in October of 2017, the site was quickly cleared of the previously extant low-rise buildings, however, activity has come to a grinding halt since then. Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development is developing the tower, while the architect is Meganom, a Russian design firm from Moscow.

New Look at Manhattan’s First Russian-Designed Supertall 262 Fifth Avenue, Midtown South

The skyscraper boom surrounding the lower reaches of Fifth Avenue has only accelerated in the past few years, with 277 Fifth Avenue now rising quickly, and foundation work underway for 126 Madison Avenue, one block to the north. To the southwest of those towers, excavation is also about to begin on the area’s first legitimate residential supertall, at 262 Fifth Avenue, and today YIMBY has an exclusive new look at the project, for which the DOB officially approved plans yesterday.
