Construction is on pace to top out soon at 37 Sixth Avenue, a 26-story residential building in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Back in September, filings were submitted for the planned 26-story, 323-unit mixed-use building at 37 Sixth Avenue/495 Dean Street/664 Pacific Street, in Prospect Heights, and now DNAinfo has the project’s reveal. A 616-seat, 69,858 square-foot public school will span seven floors within the building: two below-grade levels and the first five floors. The project is a part of the Pacific Park mega-development, and a team comprised of Greenland Group and Forest City Ratner is developing; Marvel Architects is designing. Demolition is currently underway on three townhouses fronting Dean Street.
Back in June, YIMBY brought you news of construction beginning on Greenland Forest City Partners’ 23-story and 303-unit mixed-use building at 38 Sixth Avenue, in Prospect Heights, which marked their fourth building to break ground at the Pacific Park redevelopment. Now, applications have been filed for a building right across the street at 37 Sixth Avenue/495 Dean Street, which will also house a public school. Applications call for a 26-story structure totaling 342,788 square feet. The school will measure 69,858 square feet from the sub-cellar through the sixth floors, and the building’s upper portion, starting on the sixth floor, will hold 323 apartments, averaging 848 square feet apiece.
Per DNAinfo, the School Construction Authority has chosen the site of a 616-seat school that Greenland Forest City Partners agreed to build within the 15-building Pacific Park development, in Prospect Heights. The school will be located in a planned 27-story, 336-unit residential building spanning 487-495 Dean Street, and construction is expected to begin next year. The Atlantic Yards Reports notes the last of three townhouses has been vacated, and demolition of the buildings is imminent.
